Mt Whakaari / White Island

For this activity We had to make a DLO explaning what Mt Whakaari / White Island known for. Our teacher showed us this site that shows the information. Me and my parten created this DLO that explans what White Island is known for. We reseached what all the names and other stuff mean. 1 fact i’ve learnt about that volcano was that New Zealand’s most active cone volcano.

I enjoyed doing this because, We got to make a DLO explaning what this volcano iis all about.

Mangere / Volcano Poem

For this activity, We were learning about Volcanoes and what is does, but for this we had to make a poem that goes with your mountain. We had to make sure that Snoozing was a verb. Me and me Partner picked Mangere because it was way more easyer then the anothers. We made our poem using our 4 nouns which was (Noun, Verb, Adjectives, phrase and synonym) We had to do it in order so it was 1 Noun which is a persons name, A verb is something you can touch, adjectives is describing a noun for ex: Brown table or Orange chair.

I found this activity challenging because we couldn’t repeat the word that we already used.

Math’s

Last week our group for Maths (group 3) We were learning how to round numbers up to the millions and two decimal places, We worked in groups for this but. We were talking in our groups of how we were going to do it. So after we have leanrt about them, we made a DLO for our Maths groups, so we can all blog it.  I enjoyed doing this because we got to learn more about, round numbers up to the millions and two decimal places.

Why Maungarei Sleeps: Pourquoi story

Many years ago there was a Maunga named Maungarei. She has been sleeping for a very long time, but when people woke her up, she got angry and she was in fear.

They had woken her up with all the running up on her mountain, So she had no choice but to explode. She felt sorry about the people that she scared off As she felt sorry about other people, she was angry at herself for letting other people go. Has she released the people that were really kind to her. She scared them off?

She started thinking “what have i done?” She was really clumsy so no one came back to her.

After a bit, she knew it was time to calm down. Maungarei was really spoiled, by her Mum but her sibling didn’t like that so they all made a plan to hang out with all their siblings but she wasn’t invited. She got really angry and started sobbing. Something had to change because she felt left out, just how she left her siblings out. The Youngest eyes filled with wisdom, they all felt bad for her, as they were leaving her out. After her little outburst, she knew it was time to calm down so she tried to ask the other Maunga’s for help.  As she told them for help, they all ignored her, Leaving her with nothing and no one by her side.

But she told them that she had to sleep because they were being really loud, So she told them off. She went back to her place, to rest at, she started praying and praying every day someone will be her friend. The next day she went back to them, They all surprised her with all the gifts and love. She felt really happy, So she apologized to them for all the things she had done wrong. Everything was peaceful. She had changed her behaviour by praying and saying sorry to them, that’s how the problem was solved.

For this activity we were learning about Different kinds of volcanoes and how does it Erupts? Well after all that research about mountains, we got to write our own story, and put it in our own words, so we could understand it. Well our name for our story was called Pourquoi Storys. After we finished writing our storys, Making sure we had our, Full stops, Capital letters and other stuff we had to work on. For Adobe Express we used it’s site to generate an image about volcano/Maungarei sleeping by using powerful prompts.  I chose this image because it paints a an image by just looking at the picture and reading the texts. I found activity this fun because we got to generate our own image, and making sure everything was in the right place.

Volcano Eruption

For inquiry we learned about volcanoes and what are the different types. What causes a volcanic eruption? The volcano erupts when 2 tectonic plates crash and touch each other that can make the magma rise to the Earth’s surface which can rise and flow out onto the flat surface of land (that can cause damage to buildings and people, etc…). While it’s erupting, the gas goes everywhere including it going higher than the clouds are usually at. Once the pressure is high enough, the magma erupts which could push through the volcano’s vent. What are the 4 types/differences of volcanoes? The 4 types of volcanoes are shield, cinder cone, composite (another word is stratovolcanoes and lava domes. I enjoyed doing this activity because we got to learn more about volcano and how it Erupts.

Diary World War 1

LI: To retell an event in history through the fictional eyes of someone who was there

Last week we have been learning about ANZAC, and World war 1. We worte a Diary to sent home, But we didn’t actually sent it home. But the diary was to remember that persons lost. We watched videos about people in the War writing letters and sending them home so there dear parents will know that there still there. They wont allowed to write that much in the Diary, But we watched this sad video that shows that a Man was always writing letters home, But then he got wounded and he was sent to go get treated. So a few days later, He had Passed away, So that was his last letter home to his Dear Parents. Here is a video of me saying my Diary.

Soemthing I found Interesting was that we got to use Vids because you can add anything you will like.

Samuel Marsden Podcast

For this activity we were challenged to create a podcast about Reverend Samuel Marsden. We have used our Inquiry knowledge to help us write questions that we might have asked Reverend Samuel Marsden if we had a chance. On Adobe Expressed we used Podcast to record our voices and script we have created. For our role Brooke, Melle and Haloti were the hosts and Mareta was Revered Samuel Marsden. I enjoyed doing this activity because we participated and took turns saying our script.

Something I have learned is that when we read our script we have to use expression because if we don’t people won’t be interested.

Kokako Lodge Movie

Our camp at Kokako Lodge in Hunua was really fun, we got to do anything we wanted to do. My collage or movie shows activity we were doing and the fun stuff we did there. I chose these photos because it shows what we were doing when we were there. My favourite part of camp was the cabins and the food because the cabin we got to sleep with our friends and the food, were really yummy, we had Breakfest, Tea lunch and dinner my favorite part of the day was dessert because the dessert we had every night was so good. If I was to go back to Kokako Lodge I would.

I enjoyed doing this activtiy because we got make our own movie.

Kuaka Infographic

LI: To create an infographic that tells others about the migration of the kuaka

During reading, Group 3 had created an Infographic about the Kuaka bird. Did you know the scientific name for the Kuaka bird is Limosa lapponica. In our infographic DLO, we included their habitat, diet and appearance for others to learn and know more about it. Something we found interesting while reading information was that Kuaka Birds scientific name is Limosa Lapponica because we thought Kuaka Birds was their only name. From this DLO I can see we collaborated and worked as a group to grab ideas from each other.

Dot to Dot Connections

LI: To draw the lines between the words to show how the connections you have made.

As a group create a blog blurb that explains the information in your own words. If you collaborated say what this means and how this helped you combine your knowledge, This activity was fun because we got to learn about the Kuaka bird and what it could do. We were working in our Reading groups, We we’re talking to each other to get information. We listened to everyone’s ideas.

Something our group found interesting was that the Kuaka bird could fly non-stop.
